Ingredients

3 cups granulated sugar

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup unsalted butter (cut into pieces)

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

A pinch of salt

Instructions

In a large saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, and unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a gentle boil.

Once boiling, stop stirring and let it boil for about 5 minutes without stirring, until the mixture reaches the soft-ball stage (235°F / 113°C).

Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and the chocolate chips. Mix until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

If desired, fold in the chopped nuts for added texture.

Pour the fudge mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature until set, about 2-3 hours. For faster cooling, you can refrigerate it.

Once set, cut the fudge into squares and serve as a delightful treat!
