1 cup (170g) high-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cocoa), chopped

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter

3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

3 large eggs, at room temperature

1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder

Optional: powdered sugar and fresh berries for serving

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375F (190C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chopped dark chocolate and butter. Stir continuously until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

      Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Then, add the melted chocolate mixture and mix well.

        Add Eggs: Whisk in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. The mixture should be glossy.

          Incorporate Cocoa Powder: Sift the unsweetened cocoa powder over the chocolate mixture and gently fold until fully combined. Be careful not to over-mix; a few lumps are okay.

            Pour into Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

              Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the outer edges are set but the center remains slightly soft. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.

                Cool: Allow the torte to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. Remove the parchment paper.

                  Serve: Dust the cooled torte with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries if desired. Enjoy the rich, fudgy texture of this flourless delight!
