Ingredients

8 slices of thick bread (Texas toast or challah recommended)

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs

1 large egg

1 cup milk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Vegetable oil for frying

Additional powdered sugar for dusting

Whipped cream or chocolate sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on four slices of bread. Top each with sliced strawberries and then place the remaining bread slices on top to create sandwiches.

Coat the Sandwiches: In a shallow dish, beat the egg and milk together. In another shallow dish, mix flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

Dredge the Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich first in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture, ensuring all sides are well covered.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

Fry the Sandwiches: Carefully place a few sandwiches in the hot oil (don’t overcrowd the pan) and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and let drain on paper towels.

Serve: Dust the fried sandwiches with additional powdered sugar and serve warm with whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce, if desired.
