Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup creamy peanut butter

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove it from the heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.

Add Peanut Butter: Stir the creamy peanut butter into the butter-sugar mixture until smooth and fully incorporated.

Incorporate Eggs & Vanilla: Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Extras: If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped peanuts for added texture and flavor.

Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool and Serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift them out, and let them cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Enjoy: Serve these fudgy, chewy peanut butter brownies warm, at room temperature, or even chilled, and savor the delicious combination of chocolate and peanut butter!
