Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup marinara sauce

4 hoagie rolls

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is thoroughly incorporated.

Shape the Meatballs: Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get around 12 meatballs.

Bake the Meatballs: Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Toast the Hoagie Rolls: While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the garlic butter. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, garlic powder, and chopped parsley. Slice the hoagie rolls open and spread the garlic butter mixture on the inside of each roll.

Toast the Rolls: Place the rolls on a baking sheet, buttered side up, and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Heat the Marinara Sauce: In a small saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium-low heat until warmed through.

Assemble the Hoagies: Place 3 meatballs inside each toasted hoagie roll. Spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs, and then generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.

Melt the Cheese: Return the assembled hoagies to the oven for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with extra chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.
