Preheating your oven is essential for achieving the perfect Honey Mustard Crusted Tilapia. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to fully preheat before placing the fish inside. This step ensures that the fillets cook evenly and helps to develop a golden crust. An adequately preheated oven creates a consistent temperature that can make a significant difference in both texture and flavor.

Ingredients

4 tilapia fillets

3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon dried parsley

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Honey Mustard Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Coat the Fillets: Place the tilapia fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Spread an even layer of the honey mustard mixture over each fillet, making sure to cover them completely.

Add the Crust: In another bowl, mix the whole wheat breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Press the breadcrumbs onto the honey mustard-coated fillets to create a crust.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tilapia flakes easily with a fork and the crust is golden brown.

Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the tilapia fillets with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor.
