Ingredients

2 cups fresh cranberries

1 cup orange juice

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 store-bought pound cake, cut into cubes

2 cups whipped cream

Zest of 1 orange

Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Cranberry Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh cranberries, orange juice, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

Layer the Trifle: In a large glass trifle bowl or individual dessert cups, start by placing a layer of pound cake cubes at the bottom. Spoon a layer of the cranberry sauce over the cake cubes. Next, add a layer of whipped cream on top. Repeat the layers (cake, cranberry sauce, whipped cream) until the bowl is filled, finishing with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.

Garnish: Sprinkle the orange zest over the top and add fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and freshness.

Chill: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
