Ingredients

1 box of vanilla cake mix

3 large eggs

1 cup of water

1 cup of eggnog

1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix

1 cup of whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)

½ tsp ground nutmeg

½ cup of crushed peppermint candies (optional, for garnish)

Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries) for decoration

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, eggs, water, and eggnog. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture on medium speed for 2-3 minutes, until well blended.

Bake the Cake: Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Poke the Cake: Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the surface of the cake (about every 1 inch apart).

Prepare the Pudding Mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix with 2 cups of cold eggnog until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes.

Pour the Pudding: Carefully pour the pudding mixture over the warm cake, making sure to fill the holes you've poked. Use a spatula to spread it evenly across the surface.

Chill the Cake: Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Add Whipped Cream Topping: Once the cake has chilled and the pudding has set, spread the whipped cream over the top evenly.

Garnish: Sprinkle the ground nutmeg on top of the whipped cream and add crushed peppermint candies if desired. Decorate with fresh berries for a vibrant touch.

Serve: Slice the cake into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy this delightful holiday dessert with friends and family!
