Ingredients

1 cup fresh blueberries (plus extra for garnish)

1 cup granulated sugar

4 cups water

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)

Lemon slices (for garnish)

Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Ice cubes

Instructions

Prepare the Blueberry Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries and sugar. Muddle the blueberries with a fork or masher until they start to release their juices. Add 1 cup of water and bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes until the blueberries have burst and the syrup has thickened slightly.

Strain the Syrup: Once the syrup is ready, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher, pressing down on the solids to extract all the juice. Discard the leftover blueberry skins.

Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the strained blueberry syrup with the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to mix. Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.

Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the blueberry lemonade over the ice. Garnish with fresh blueberries, lemon slices, and mint leaves if using.

Enjoy: Refresh yourself with this delicious homemade blueberry lemonade on a warm day!
