Ingredients for Sweet and Savory Honey Garlic Chicken

Honey Garlic Chicken

This honey garlic chicken is a simple dinner recipe made with everyday ingredients. Perfect for busy days and family meals.

Ingredients

1.5 lbs chicken thighs, boneless and skinless

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp sesame oil

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooked rice or quinoa, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using. Reserve 1/4 cup of the marinade for later. Place chicken thighs in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish, pour the marinade over, cover, and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for more flavor).

Preheat Your Pan: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess sauce to drip off. Season the thighs with a little salt and pepper on both sides.

Cook the Chicken: Add the chicken to the hot skillet and sear for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).

Glaze the Chicken: Once the chicken is cooked, pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, basting the chicken with the sauce until it thickens slightly and coats the chicken beautifully.

Serve: Transfer the chicken to a serving plate and drizzle with the glaze from the skillet. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over cooked rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
