Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 box yellow cake mix

1 cup water

1/3 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 cup chopped pecans

For the Praline Sauce:

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chopped pecans (for garnish)

For the Topping:

1 cup whipped cream (or Cool Whip)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Cake:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.

        - Fold in the chopped pecans.

          - Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

            - Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.

              Make the Praline Sauce:

                - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil.

                  - Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, continuing to stir.

                    - Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the sauce to cool slightly.

                      Poke the Cake:

                        - Once the cake has cooled in the pan, use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes evenly throughout the cake.

                          - Pour half of the praline sauce over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Reserve the remaining sauce for serving.

                            Chill the Cake:

                              - Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the cake to soak in the praline sauce.

                                Prepare the Topping:

                                  - In a bowl, mix the whipped cream with the vanilla extract until well combined.

                                    Assemble and Serve:

                                      - Once chilled, spread the whipped cream topping over the cake, smoothing it out gently.

                                        - Drizzle the remaining praline sauce over the whipped cream topping and sprinkle with the additional chopped pecans.

                                          - Slice and serve chilled, enjoying the rich layers of flavor and texture!
