Ingredients

For the Donut Bars:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

¾ cup buttermilk

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup maple syrup (for the batter)

For the Maple Glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar

¼ cup maple syrup

2 tablespoons milk (or more for thin consistency)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth and combined.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Allow the donut bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Maple Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk quantity to achieve your desired glaze consistency.

Glaze the Bars: Once the bars are completely cool, drizzle the maple glaze over the top using a spoon or a piping bag for a decorative touch.

Slice and Serve: Cut into bars and serve. Enjoy your delicious homemade maple donut bars!
