1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans work well)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

    Cream the Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).

      Add Vanilla: Mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
