Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Extra mozzarella cheese for topping

Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt. Whisk well to blend.

Add Cheeses: Stir in the shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan into the dry mixture until well distributed.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk (or the milk with vinegar) and melted butter.

Create the Dough: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky but should come together. Be careful not to overmix.

Shape the Breadsticks: On a floured surface, gently knead the dough a few times until smooth. Pat or roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into strips (about 1 inch wide).

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the strips on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between them. If desired, sprinkle additional mozzarella on top.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and cooked through.

Optional Topping: If desired, brush the warm breadsticks with a mixture of melted butter and fresh parsley for extra flavor.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
