1 cup jasmine or basmati rice

2 cups water

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Optional: herbs or spices (like garlic powder, bay leaves, or saffron) for added flavor

Instructions
 

Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear, to remove excess starch.

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the rinsed rice, water, olive oil (or butter), and salt. Stir to mix well.

      Cover the bowl tightly with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap, leaving a small gap for steam to escape.

        Microwave the rice on high for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, stir the rice, cover again, and microwave for an additional 5 minutes.

          Let the rice sit covered for 5 minutes after microwaving to allow it to finish steaming and absorb any remaining water.

            Fluff the rice with a fork, adding any optional herbs or spices before serving.
