Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar, sifted

2-3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract (adjust for desired mintiness)

Green food coloring (optional)

A pinch of salt

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.

Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low to avoid a sugar cloud, until well combined.

Pour in the heavy cream or milk to achieve your desired consistency, then beat the mixture on medium-high speed for 2 minutes until fluffy.

Stir in the peppermint extract and a pinch of salt, mixing until evenly combined.

If using, add a few drops of green food coloring to achieve your preferred shade of mint green, mixing until the color is uniform.

Taste and adjust the mint flavor by adding more peppermint extract if needed.

Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or as a filling, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
