Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

1/2 cup sliced olives (green and black)

1/4 cup diced roasted red peppers

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 tbsp capers, rinsed and chopped

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 slices provolone cheese

4 hamburger buns, preferably sesame seed

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup mustard

1/2 cup shredded lettuce

1 medium tomato, sliced

Instructions

Prepare the Muffuletta Mix: In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced olives, roasted red peppers, chopped parsley, capers, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until it forms a chunky spread.

Form the Burger Patties: In another bowl, divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions. Form each portion into a thin patty. Make a small indentation in the center of 4 of the patties.

Stuff the Patties: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the Muffuletta mix onto the center of each of the 4 patties with indentations. Top with a slice of provolone cheese, then place another patty on top and seal the edges tightly to encase the filling.

Grill the Burgers: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the stuffed burgers for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) and the cheese is melted.

Toast the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add a layer of shredded lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato. Carefully place the stuffed burger on top, then cover with the top half of the bun.

Serve: Serve the Muffuletta Stuffed Burgers hot, with any extra Muffuletta mix on the side for dipping if desired.
