Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of ham (thinly sliced, such as prosciutto or deli ham)

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup butter (melted)

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with a little olive oil or cooking spray.

Prepare the Chicken: Place one chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch. Repeat with the remaining chicken breasts.

Assemble the Cordon Bleu: Lay a slice of ham on top of each flattened chicken breast. Follow with a slice of Swiss cheese. Roll the chicken tightly, starting from one end, and secure it with toothpicks if necessary. Repeat for the remaining breasts.

Dredging Station: In three separate bowls, set up your dredging station. Place flour seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in the first bowl. Next, pour the beaten eggs into the second bowl. Finally, place the breadcrumbs in the third bowl.

Coat the Chicken: Dip each rolled chicken breast into the flour, shaking off the excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat in breadcrumbs. Make sure each piece is evenly covered for the crispiest result.

Bake the Chicken: Place the coated chicken rolls into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over the top for a golden finish.

Cooking Time: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). The breadcrumbs should be golden brown.

Serve: Once baked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing. Remove toothpicks if used. Plate the rolls and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Enjoy: Serve warm with a side of sautéed vegetables or a fresh salad.

                    Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 4

Bon appétit! Enjoy your delicious and delightful classic baked chicken cordon bleu. 🍽️
