Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup milk

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 cups boiling water

Optional: whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring continuously to ensure a well-blended mixture.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly blend this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar with the boiling water. Carefully pour this mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish; do not stir.

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is set, and the edges are bubbly.

Once baked, allow the pudding cake to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. It can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.

Serve with a dollop of whipped cream on top for extra indulgence.
