Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 3-4 large oranges)

Zest of 2 oranges

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for extra creaminess)

1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for texture)

Instructions

Prepare the Base: In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, orange juice, and orange zest. If using cornstarch, mix it with a couple of tablespoons of the cold milk to create a slurry, then add it to the saucepan.

Heat Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk continuously. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Avoid boiling the mixture.

Flavor it Up: Once the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is warm (but not boiling), remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

Cool Down: Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then cover it and place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.

Churn the Ice Cream: Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. If desired, fold in mini marshmallows for added texture.

Freeze: Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until it hardens to your desired consistency.

Serve: Scoop out servings of your dreamy orange creamsicle ice cream and enjoy! Garnish with additional orange zest or a slice of fresh orange if desired.
