Ingredients

6 buttery croissants, cut into chunks

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

½ cup heavy cream

½ cup sugar

Zest of 1 large orange

Juice of 1 large orange

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Fresh orange slices, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Add the croissant chunks into the egg mixture, ensuring all pieces are coated. If using, fold in the chocolate chips for added richness.

Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes, letting the croissant absorb the egg mixture.

Pour the croissant mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set in the middle.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar.

Serve warm with fresh orange slices on the side for an extra citrusy kick.
