Ingredients

1 ½ lbs ground beef or a mix of beef and pork

1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian-style preferred)

1 large egg, beaten

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup pesto sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 cup marinara sauce (for topping)

¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (or mixture of meats), breadcrumbs, beaten egg, grated Parmesan cheese, pesto sauce, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Shape the Loaf: Transfer the meat mixture to a lightly greased loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Add Marinara Sauce: Pour the marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) and the meatloaf is cooked through.

Garnish and Serve: Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes after removing it from the oven. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before slicing and serving.
