Ingredients

1 large hoagie or Italian bread loaf

1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup provolone cheese, shredded

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

Prep the Bread: Preheat your oven to 400F (200C). Slice the hoagie bread in half lengthwise and scoop out a little bit of the soft bread from the center to make room for the filling.

Cook the Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Saut until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Cook the Steak: Increase the heat to medium-high and push the vegetables to the side of the skillet. Add the sliced ribeye steak to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the steak is cooked through, and combine it with the onions and peppers. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the chopped parsley and a pinch of salt. Spread this garlic butter generously over the cut sides of the hoagie bread.

Assemble the Garlic Bread: Place the steak and vegetable mixture evenly on the buttered side of each bread half. Top generously with shredded provolone cheese.

Bake: Place the assembled cheesesteak garlic bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Finishing Touches: If you prefer a crispy top, switch on the broiler and broil for an additional 1-2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.

Serve: Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice into manageable pieces. Optionally, sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes for an added kick.
