Ingredients

2 large chicken breasts

1 cup pretzel crumbs (about 2 cups of pretzels crushed)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey (optional for a sweet twist)

Cooking spray or olive oil for baking

Instructions

Preparation: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray or a drizzle of olive oil.

Setup Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. In a third bowl, place the pretzel crumbs.

Coat the Chicken: Start by dipping each chicken breast into the flour, ensuring it’s fully covered. Next, shake off any excess. Then, dip the chicken into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken with the pretzel crumbs, pressing down gently to adhere well.

Baking: Place the coated chicken breasts onto the prepared baking sheet. For extra crispiness, lightly spray the tops with cooking spray or drizzle a bit of olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C) and the crust is golden brown.

Prepare the Sauce (Optional): While the chicken is baking, mix the Dijon mustard and honey (if using) in a small bowl to create a tangy dipping sauce.

Serve: Once the chicken is done, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve it warm with the mustard-honey sauce on the side for dipping.

              Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 2

Enjoy your crispy, savory Pretzel Crusted Chicken!
