Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

For the Salted Caramel Sauce:

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon sea salt

For Serving:

Whipped cream (optional)

Additional sea salt for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.

    Make the Cake Batter:

      - In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

        - Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

          - In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

            - Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.

              Bake the Cake:

                - Pour the cake batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread it evenly.

                  - Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

                    - Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

                      Prepare the Salted Caramel Sauce:

                        - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it turns a golden amber color.

                          - Carefully add the butter and stir until melted.

                            - Slowly whisk in the heavy cream, being cautious as it may bubble vigorously.

                              - Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt. Set aside to cool slightly.

                                Assemble the Cake:

                                  - Once the cake has cooled completely, poke holes all over the top with a skewer or the handle of a spoon.

                                    - Drizzle half of the salted caramel sauce over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.

                                      Serve:

                                        - Serve slices of the cake drizzled with the remaining salted caramel sauce and a dollop of whipped cream, if desired. Sprinkle with additional sea salt for an extra touch.
