Ingredients

3-4 pounds beef brisket

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 large onion, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Sear the Brisket: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the brisket with salt and pepper. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned (about 4-5 minutes per side). This step helps enhance the flavor.

Prepare the Slow Cooker: Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker. This forms a flavorful base for the brisket.

Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, cumin, and thyme. Stir well to combine.

Place Brisket in Slow Cooker: Carefully place the seared brisket on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker. Pour the sauce mixture over the brisket, covering it well.

Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 5-6 hours, until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

Rest and Slice: Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15-20 minutes. Slice against the grain into thick slices.

Serve: Drizzle some of the remaining cooking liquid over the slices or serve with additional BBQ sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.

Enjoy: Serve on a platter or as a sandwich on buns. Pair with your favorite sides such as coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.
