4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup low-sodium chicken broth

1 medium onion, finely chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Cooked pasta or rice, for serving.

Instructions
 

In the slow cooker, combine crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, heavy cream, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried basil, oregano, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir until well mixed.

    Place the chicken breasts into the slow cooker, submerging them in the sauce mixture. Ensure they are evenly coated.

      Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.

        Once done, remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks. Return the shredded chicken back to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the sauce.

          Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a little more chicken broth or cream. For a thicker sauce, let it cook uncovered for an additional 30 minutes.
