Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup water

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

In another bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are fine.

Fold in the chocolate chips gently.

Grease the slow cooker insert with non-stick spray. Pour the batter into the slow cooker.

Carefully pour the water over the batter. Do not stir; this will create the lava effect during cooking.

Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours or until the top appears set and the edges are firm. The center should still be gooey.

Once done, turn off the slow cooker and let it sit covered for an additional 10 minutes.

Serve warm, scooping out portions to reveal the gooey chocolate center. Pair with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
