Ingredients

1.5 lbs beef sirloin, cut into bite-sized cubes

1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 medium onion, chopped

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until the brown sugar is dissolved.

Sear the Steak (Optional): For enhanced flavor, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil and sear the beef cubes for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides. This step adds depth to the dish but can be skipped if you're short on time.

Combine in Slow Cooker: Place the chopped onions at the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the beef cubes on top, then pour the marinade over the meat. Ensure the beef is well coated.

Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the steak is tender and flavorful.

Finish and Serve: Once cooked, give the steak bites a gentle stir. You can thicken the sauce by removing the lid and cooking on high for an additional 30 minutes if desired. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Enjoy: These savory steak bites can be served on their own, over rice, or with steamed vegetables to soak up the delicious sauce!
