Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2/3 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Extra granulated sugar or colored sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Transfer the cookie dough to a cookie press or piping bag fitted with a star tip.

Pipe the cookies onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart. These cookies can be made in various shapes (like stars, flowers, or circles) according to your preference.

Sprinkle the tops of the cookies with extra granulated sugar or colorful sprinkles for decoration.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers should remain soft.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
