Ingredients

1 loaf of Italian bread (about 2 feet long)

12 oz spaghetti

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (for garnish)

Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Bread Bowls: Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise, and then scoop out the insides to create hollow bowls while leaving about 1/2 inch of bread on the sides. Keep the scooped-out bread for croutons or bread crumbs later.

Cook the Spaghetti: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to brown it. Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes, if using.

Combine Spaghetti and Sauce: In a large bowl, toss the cooked spaghetti with the garlic butter, marinara sauce, and grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assemble the Bowls: Place the hollowed-out bread halves on a baking sheet. Fill each bread bowl generously with the spaghetti mixture.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over each filled bread bowl.

Bake the Bowls: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil. Serve warm, and enjoy your delicious spaghetti garlic bread bowls!
