Ingredients

1 pound (450g) fresh cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for brightness)

Instructions

Prepare the Mushrooms: Rinse the mushrooms under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Trim the stems if needed for a polished look.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

Cook the Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Sauté them for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender. If the skillet becomes too dry, you can add a splash of water to help steam them.

Add Garlic and Seasonings: Stir in the minced garlic, fresh thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the garlic to cook without burning.

Finish with Fresh Herbs: Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley and, if desired, a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten the flavors. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Immediately transfer the garlic butter mushrooms to a serving dish and enjoy as a delectable side dish with steak or as a topping for grilled meats.
