Ingredients
  

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 cups vanilla ice cream

1 cup whipped cream

1/2 cup chocolate sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/4 cup crushed nuts (such as almonds or walnuts)

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

In a mixing bowl, combine the halved strawberries, sugar, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat the strawberries, and let them sit for about 15 minutes. This will allow the strawberries to release their juices, creating a delicious syrup.

    While the strawberries are marinating, prepare your serving bowls or glasses. You can opt for traditional sundae dishes or fun mason jars for a twist.

      Once the strawberries have softened, scoop about 1 cup of vanilla ice cream into each serving bowl.

        Generously spoon the macerated strawberries over the ice cream, making sure to drizzle some of the strawberry syrup as well.
