Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup whole milk

3 large eggs

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon almond extract

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup fresh orange juice

Zest of 1 orange

1 cup pink and orange gradient frosting (store-bought or homemade)

Edible glitter (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Stir in the milk, vanilla extract, almond extract, orange juice, and orange zest until fully combined.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Once cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of pink and orange frosting on top.

Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake with the remaining frosting.

For a sparkling touch, sprinkle edible glitter over the frosting to mimic a beautiful sunset.

Slice, serve, and enjoy your masterpiece at sunset!
