Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

500g ground lamb (or beef)

1 medium onion, finely grated

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Olive oil for frying

For the Yogurt Sauce:

1 cup plain yogurt (preferably Greek yogurt)

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped (or 1 tsp dried mint)

1 tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Paprika (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Meatballs:

    - In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until combined.

      - Shape the mixture into small meatballs (about 1-2 inches in diameter) and place them on a tray.

        Cook the Meatballs:

          - Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

            - Once the oil is hot, carefully add the meatballs in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.

              - Fry until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Rotate them occasionally for even browning. Remove and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

                Prepare the Yogurt Sauce:

                  - In a medium bowl, combine the plain yogurt, minced garlic, chopped mint, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well-blended.

                    - Adjust seasoning to taste if necessary.

                      Serve:

                        - On a serving platter, arrange the meatballs and drizzle with the yogurt sauce over the top.

                          - Garnish with a sprinkle of paprika and additional mint if desired.

                            - Serve with warm pita bread or over rice for a complete meal.
