Ingredients

16 oz elbow macaroni

4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

2 cups Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

4 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup unsalted butter, diced

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup sour cream

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp mustard powder (optional)

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping, optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prep the Macaroni: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions but reduce the cooking time by 2 minutes, so it remains slightly firm. Drain and set aside.

Mix the Cheeses: In a large bowl, combine the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. Reserve about 1 cup of this cheese mixture for topping later.

Combine Ingredients: In your crock pot, add the cooked macaroni, whole milk, heavy cream, cream cheese, sour cream, diced butter, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Layer the Cheese: Add 3 cups of the cheese mixture into the pot and mix until evenly distributed. Reserve the remaining cheese for topping later.

Cook: Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni is tender and the cheese sauce is creamy. Avoid overcooking to maintain the perfect texture.

Top with Cheese and Breadcrumbs: About 30 minutes before serving, sprinkle the reserved cheese mixture and breadcrumbs (if using) evenly on top of the mac and cheese. Cover again and let it cook for the remaining time until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once done, fluff with a fork and garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy this ultra-creamy delight!
